Websites that help you voice your opinion

moveon.org

We highly recommend this site.  They have done a great job and they make it very easy to take effective action.

truemajority.org

We also recommend this site.  Started by Ben Cohen, cofounder of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, the site enables you to easily fax letters to your representatives.

congress.org

This site makes it easy to send email to your elected representatives.  However, they appear to be a commercial site, and have an annoying habit of trying to get you to pay $5 to have your message printed and "hand delivered".  It is true that a printed letter or FAX carries more impact than an email message, but we would prefer a more genuine desire to help, rather than their apparently commercial motivation.

Write or call your leaders!

If you live in Somerville, MA or Cambridge, MA, here are the folks you need to write to and call.  On its website, Citizens for Participation in Political Action (CPPAX) has good information about effective lobbying techniques  (CPPAX Lobbying Guide ).

If you do not live in Somerville or Cambridge, see congress.org or CPPAX 2004 Congressional Directory  to find your senators and congressperson.

CPPAX does a good job of keeping you posted on Massachusetts congressional positions on Iraq.  See Positions and Statements from the Massachusetts Delegation .

Talk to friends and colleagues!

Ask them what they think.  Tell them what you think.

Remember "freedom of speech"?  Democracy depends on it!  Stating your opinion is not only your right, it's your obligation as a citizen when your government is committing an international crime in your name.  Every citizen who remains silent becomes an accomplice. Speak out!
